In the past months, we have been working on the AAIO website to get it as informative as possible for the benefit of all members. We believe the time has come to open the door to communication among members.
If there is any question or statement you would like to announce to the general membership, please email Manisha Virdi at vetrocat@yahoo.com. She will post your comments and questions on the website, and from there a conversation can begin.
In addition, allow me to take this opportunity to remind all members of the Discussion Board" feature that is already on our website. This is another avenue for conversation.
We hope this will facilitate communication among members and begin a trend that is beneficial to all.

We would like to bring your attention to the Eye Foundation of America, started by our very own Dr. Vadrevu Raju. Below is some information about the organization and an upcoming even to fund underprivleged children of Afghanistan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s difficult for Americans to imagine life in a world where a trip to see a doctor can take days, or where a mother must watch her child’s sight grow dim from a treatable disease due to a lack of affordable medical care. In developing countries, treatment and facilities for eye diseases are rare. Ophthalmologists are even rarer. Twenty years of war have torn apart the Afghan Countryside and left its people battered and homeless often living in remote areas far from humanitarian aid. Most Afghan Children have never known anything but war. Many continue to be injured by land mines left behind by the waring factions. Seven Afghan children are killed each day by land mines. Many are blind. Without proper eye care, many other Afghan children will become blind – from disease, defect, or malnutrition. Dr. V.K. Raju, an Indian-born and board certified ophthalmologist, established the Eye Foundation of America in 1979 to help ensure adequate healthcare for the underprivileged of the world. He has maintained close ties with his Indian background and over the past 28 years, has assembled medical teams to make countless trips to treat patients in mobile “eye camps” or clinics in developing countries. Among many awards, The American Academy of Ophthalmology presented Dr. V.K. Raju with an Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award for his contributions to the medical profession and for his personal efforts and skills on behalf of his fellow men. Raju is pleased with his honors. “It makes me want to strive even harder to accomplish even more,“ Raju said.
